Our Mission

The heart behind everything we do

Mission Statement

What We Are Called to Do

"To serve the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — by offering practical assistance, compassionate care, and community connection rooted in Christian values."

This is not merely a statement on a page. It is the living commitment that guides every volunteer shift, every food hamper assembled, every door we knock on, and every conversation we have with someone who needs to know they are not alone.

More Than Relief

Serving the Whole Person

We know that need does not arrive in a single category. When a family struggles with food insecurity, they may also be navigating emotional stress, social isolation, and uncertainty about the future.

That is why Wellspring's mission explicitly encompasses the whole person. We address physical needs through our food programs and emergency assistance. We address emotional needs through compassionate, personal service that treats every individual with dignity. We address spiritual needs through pastoral care and the lived testimony of a community that believes every life has value.

Our approach is holistic because people are holistic. We do not hand out a food box and close the door — we open a conversation, build a relationship, and walk alongside those we serve for as long as they need us.

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter?" — Isaiah 58:6–7
What We Stand For

Our Core Values

Six foundational values shape how we carry out our mission every day.

Compassion

We lead with empathy and understanding, meeting people where they are without judgement or condition.

Community

We believe in the power of neighbours caring for neighbours — building the bonds that make a community truly strong.

Faith

Our Christian faith grounds our purpose, inspires our service, and sustains us through the challenges of this work.

Dignity

Every person we serve deserves respect and honour. We deliver care in ways that affirm, not diminish, people's worth.

Service

Service is not a transaction — it is a calling. We give generously of our time, skills, and resources with joyful dedication.

Hope

We hold onto hope — for individual lives, for families, and for a community where every person can flourish.

Mission in Action

From Purpose to Practice

Our mission translates into a range of programs and services that address the real, everyday challenges faced by residents of New Germany and Lunenburg County.

Through our community programs, we provide food assistance, emergency support, youth programming, senior outreach, and pastoral care. Each program is designed to address a specific dimension of community need while remaining connected to the whole-person philosophy at the heart of our mission.

Our volunteers and staff are not simply filling service roles — they are living out the mission with every interaction. When a family receives a food hamper, they receive it from someone who knows their name, who cares about their story, and who is genuinely glad to help.
